Best wedding photographer in South Central TWIA 2022
Best wedding photographer in Hampshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire
Well what an amazing evening I had yesterday!!! I am still on cloud nine after being announced as the winner for best wedding photographer in 2022 for the South Central region at The Wedding Industry Awards. I cannot thank my couples enough for voting and taking the time to write such wonderful comments which enabled this dream to become a reality. A big thank you to the judges too for choosing me amongst so many talented photographers.
Driving up to Trunkwell House for TWIA South Central finals I didn’t know what to expect. Having won the award back in 2018 – which you can read about here – I knew the feeling of my name being called but as I recalled the competitors for this year I knew it was going to be a close call. Choosing the right things to say in the profile questions, having amazing feedback from clients, a great website and a killer social media are all really important elements to being successful in these awards. It is however, without a doubt that the portfolio you submit to be judged has to really set you apart from the rest. Below I have added the images that I chose which demonstrated what an incredible year I had in 2021 and why I thought to choose them for this years awards.
KT & Mei – May 2021
I chose this image as it was such an emotionally driven moment and really stood out in my 2021 portfolio. There is always anxiety and tension during the ceremony but rarely does it end with both the Bride and Groom with tissues wiping away the tears. This had to be included.
Sarah & Andrew – June 2021
Pure jubilation!! The main reason for this image getting the nod was Sarah. She wanted a killer confetti photo and I think this hits the nail firmly on the head. A must for the final 10.
Steph & James – July 2021
Nighttime photographs are one of my USP’s and this stood out from a number of possible images that could have made the shortlist. The moment between these two is beautiful and the grandeur of this venue at night really adds to this image perfectly.
Steph & James – July 2021
I nearly didn’t capture these fireworks as they were a surprise by the best man but I am so pleased that I did!! Fireworks are one of the hardest things to photograph as you don’t know what camera settings are needed or what additional light is required until the display has started. You also don’t know what the display is going to be like. The composition and technical difficulty really made this image stand out through – a real WOW factor image and a must for the final 10.
Annie & Josh – August 2021
Light, moment and composition – I loved capturing this image as the nighttime rolled in and I knew as soon as I saw it on the back of the camera that it would be a cracker. A must for the final 10.
Emily & Frazer – October 2021
It’s not everyday that there is a full size cardboard cut out of the groom in a bikini being presented by the best men during the speeches. The reactions in the background really add to the overall image too – A must to be added.
Emily & Annas – October 2021
Light, moment and composition are what make an excellent photograph and this captures all three elements perfectly. Again a must for the final 10.
Laura & George – November 2021
This image was taken 3 days after my daughter was born and I love the raw emotion in this image. The black and white really draws you in to what I want the viewer to see which is the crazy singing waiter swinging surrounded by guests with napkins swinging above their heads. A must for the final 10.
Nicola & Serhan – November 2021
I do love a dad reaction and there were so many that I could have chosen. This one stood out to me for the pure raw emotion by both mum and dad. Again A must for the final 10.
Ellis & Chris – November 2021
Nighttime at its best. Light, moment and composition all working together to make a killer image. I had to add this as one of my nighttime photographs but again there were many others that could have been chosen. This, for me, stood out as being very different to all the others.
So there you have it, my TWIA 2022 10 best images. There were so many that I could have chosen and it was an extremely difficult and long process to chose the ones that I thought showed off my qualities and technical ability the best.
What now?? Well on to the national finals in London on February 23rd and I am now one of 8 photographers shortlisted for the national award. A seriously amazing feat and I am very much looking forward to that evening. The competition is fierce and there are some seriously AMAZING photographers but it will give me a night out to celebrate what was an incredible 2021.
