Whether it is using my experience in capturing the early autumn sunlight in the New Forest, or helping to get children to enjoy their formal photographs, I am ready to be creative and for Lucy and Ian’s special day that creativeness just flowed.

I first met Lucy and Ian at a Rhinefield House wedding fair before a further private consultation at my studio in Fareham. From the first moment we met I could tell that they wanted to have some great photography to remember their wedding by and that they had a strong emphasis on enjoying the day with their guests. It was a joy to get to know them in the build up to the wedding day and I know that they will be very happy together for many years to come.

Lucy wore a beautiful wedding dress coupled with a vibrant pair of royal blue shoes – the combination was stunning. The Munroe Suite was filled with laughter throughout the whole morning making for a wonderful start to Lucy and Ian’s wedding day.

Ian arrived in a beautiful BMW i8 sports car, which was kindly supplied by one of his Groomsmen for the day. Needless to say he was beaming when I took some photographs with him and this monster of a sports car.

Lucy looked radiant as she walked down the aisle in the Grand Hall – with everyone’s anticipation you could hear a pin drop. There were some lovely touching moments between the couple during the ceremony as the guests looked onto a couple so very happy standing side by side saying their vows.

The reception drinks produced some special images as children chased bubbles and the guests mingled with each other. During formal photographs you can feel quite overwhelmed with the pressure, especially when you have a photograph specifically requested from the Bride and Groom with young children. Children, being children, never want to stand still – my 2 year old daughter is exactly the same. Having a young child myself I can completely understand why they wouldn’t want to pose- they just want to have fun, and why not. So for the photograph that Lucy and Ian had requested I decided to do something a little different and ask the kids to do aeroplanes around the Bride and Groom. The result was better than I could have imagined and was definitely the stand out image from the day – a cracking photograph, as you will see below 🙂

The beautiful autumn sun gave a stunning light during the couples time alone with me and we achieved some wonderful photographs.

Some couples don’t opt for a receiving line on their wedding day however Lucy and Ian wanted this to make sure that they got to speak with all of their guests, albeit briefly, just to say thank you for being a part of their special day. There were some lovely moments that I captured during this time for them.

The first dance was an emotional occasion as Lucy danced with her father before being passed on to her new husband. Then the crazy dancing began and as it was halloween one of the Bridesmaids and a selection of guests produced a rendition of Thriller for the Bride and Groom which was fantastic!

A lovely day had by all and a great story to tell in the pictures that unfolded….
