Tartan meets Tweed for Helen & David’s Hampshire Marquee wedding
Oh my what a fun filled Hampshire marquee wedding this was!!! From the moment I got the first enquiry from Helen & David I new it was going to be a blast to be a part of their wedding day and I was not wrong!! Tartan meets Tweed was the theme and even an element of the Highland games came in to play during the couples reception drinks. This was absolutely hilarious as the notorious wheelbarrow race, welly wanging and hammer throw was enjoyed by the couple and all their guests.
When meeting Helen and David they were quite adamant that they did not like having their photograph taken and wanted me produce a very strong documentary approach. This is the same for about 95% of the couples I work with and was why my style of documentary photography was so appealing to Helen & David. I made sure that I only spent about 15 minutes with the couple for their ‘time alone’ photographs and the rest of the time was left for me to produce documentary photographs of their wedding as it happened. Documentary wedding photography is a very difficult art to master as you are reliant on moments happening during the day but I never worried as this wedding continued to produce fleeting moments from the moment I turned up to the time I put down my camera in the evening.
For the couples nighttime photograph I wanted to include the beautiful surroundings at Wick Hill Farm and so timing was key. With the sun just setting, and creating a quite remarkable sky, I grabbed the couple and fired off a couple of frames before settling on the one I produced for the couple. A quite stunning setting with an equally beautiful moment between Helen & David.
This is a Hampshire marquee wedding that I will never forget and I loved every minute of it. Thank you David & Helen for inviting me to be a part and I wish you lots of happiness in your future together.
