Well 2020 thank you but no thank you!! It was a year none of us expected with buzz words such as National Lockdown, Tiers, Homeschooling, Social distancing, Furlough, SEISS, CBILS and Postponements creating havoc with our lives. I, like many others, am very pleased to see the back of what has been without a doubt the most challenging year I have ever known. Not only professionally but personally too. This 366 day whirlwind of a year, whilst embracing every bit as much as possible, isn’t a year I will want to reflect on for too long. When the year started I was so excited. Just purchasing my new Sony equipment and looking forward to yet another killer season of epic weddings and wonderful stories. Little did I know that 2020 was about to become a year I will never forget for all the wrong reasons. It seems like decades ago I was putting the finishing touches to my best of 2019 blog post with so much happening in the last 12 months! This year has been quite the tale but one that I have definitely learnt and grown from as I am sure many of you have. I have needed to adapt my business as the year has progressed and am so thrilled with the way that my family photography has really taken off recently. You can check out some of my work here and there will be a ‘Best of’ blog post coming soon which I am super excited to share.
Putting together my best wedding photography of 2020, or ‘wedding highlights’ blog post, is usually one of the hardest and yet most rewarding aspects of my year. I have been very fortunate to have photographed 9 weddings throughout the pandemic with these couples embracing the more intimate celebration which we have been restricted to. It is always so difficult to choose the photographs that go into the slideshow above and even with just 9 weddings to choose from there were so many more that I wanted to include. My ‘Best of’ slideshow normally contains 150 photographs but I feel the 72 I have chosen tell my story of 2020 perfectly.
Looking through all of the photographs that I have produced has made me feel incredibly proud of the work I have accomplished this year in amongst some very difficult circumstances. I am exceptionally thankful to all of my clients who I have worked with this year but also to my clients who have unfortunately had to postpone their wedding to 2021. I cannot begin to imagine the emotional rollercoaster you have been through and I want to personally thank you so much for supporting me through this pandemic. I know that when your weddings will eventually take place it will be an AMAZING celebration too be a part of and I can guarantee it will be even more emotional than it would have been in 2020.
And so to 2021… Vaccines, Lateral Flow Testing and a return to normality!! It is a year that will hopefully bring us closer to all our families and friends, being able to embrace them like normal and not worry if we are 2m apart. A year where we will be able to spend birthdays and Christmas with our loved ones and a year where we can all get back to doing what we love without restrictions. Boy, am I looking forward to when that time comes!!
I hope you love looking through my best wedding photography of 2020 and I want to wish you all a very happy, healthy and successful 2021.
