Lizzie and Will wanted a very documentary and photojournalistic approach to their New Forest Marquee wedding photography in Burley. They wanted to spend as much time as possible with their loved ones and enjoy the day as it is, a celebration. I love it when couples say this to me at an initial consultation as it fits perfectly into my philosophy of wedding photography.
Lizzie and Will are a quite remarkable couple who are perfectly suited to one another. The chapter from Captain Corelli’s Mandolin ‘Love is a temporary madness’ says it perfectly – “Those that truly love have roots that grow towards each other underground, and, when all the pretty blossoms have fallen from their branches, they find that they are one tree and not two.”
This New Forest marquee wedding was set in Burley and was a truly unique day. This was not a wedding about lots of details or an abundance of flowers but a day driven by emotion and happiness, lots of happiness. First came the beautiful church ceremony and then onto the shindig at Will’s parents home – Beeches Brook Fisheries. It was a quite remarkable day with so many fleeting moments my eye barely came away from the camera. A few clouds threatened to unleash a down poor however nothing materialised and the couple and their guests could enjoy the remarkable setting perfectly. With a lot of alcohol consumed the speeches produced some wonderful moments for me to capture and in doing so help to portray the wonderful story I was aiming to achieve. I knew exactly what I wanted for the nighttime photograph at this wedding, I wanted the reflection of the couple in the lake and also the couples amazing marquee in the distance. As you will see from the photograph below – job done!
A huge thank you to the catering team on the day – Red Herring Catering & Events – for their sublime food and service. I know all of the guests were amazed with what you produced. They were also just awarded best caterer at The Wedding Industry Awards 2018 and I can completely see why.
Lizzie and Will… A HUGE thank you for allowing me to tell your story and for being so awesome throughout the whole process. It has been a pleasure to get to know you and I feel so privileged to have photographed your very special day.
